After postponing it for too long I'm excited to tell that I've finally started studying Photography, or by it's full and official name: Photographic Communications at the Hadassah college in Jerusalem.
It's fun, interesting and exciting. And damn, it was about time!
I'm aslo taking a part in an awesome fanzine called CHE Be which my friend Mike has created.
It's all about black and white photography by wonderful amateur photographers most of whom I know in person.
The first issue is "in the oven" and once it's out it'll be availiable for a very reasonable price.

It's kind of amazing how fast a person whose existence to me was pretty much abstract and virtual, has become so close and dear.
Thirty days ago I've got to know my sister (step sister) whom I've never met. We've spent the best 10 days together here in Jerusalem, and it felt as we never spent more then 20 years apart.

Somehow Ira has managed to buy the exact same t-shirt as i bought a few months ago without knowing i have one too.

The galsses were purchased in different countries :)

Made some tasty sour cabbage (along other vegetables) last weekend. The 7 liters dose was gone within 2 days with some help from our friends. Somehow i forgot to take a picture so i have no choice but to repeat the magic.

Had a great time hanging out with my friend Alex aka Zamosha and exploring the streets of Jerusalem. It's much nicer to walk around the city for 5 hours than using public transportation. It sucks!

What also sucks is Blogger,i'm litterly fighting it until i manage to complete a post. The gaps between the photos won't be the way i want them to be, i can't choose the font i want,photos are impossible to drag in order to change their place. Ahhhhhr!

No more whining. Here goes the nice part of this entry.

on my visits home i tend to open my eyes wider and be even more sensitive about those casual and daily moments involving my family.i'm aware to the fact that i might be repeating myself at times by shooting the same scenes over and over again but,well,i'm not trying to be innovative here.i'm just grateful to take what they give me.

About two months ago i posted some frames from the morning self portraits series.
There were not too many new photos at the "end" of it, but since the semester is over i had to present those that i managed to shoot in the given time.I thought i'd show you the ones i selected for the presentation in class.

this one i didn't hang actually,it just didn't fit on the wall among the others.
but i think it fits here.

The morning portraits series from the previous entry is pretty much done by now.
Got tired of myself a little so i'm taking a break,even though i think such subject can be thoroughly explored on the long run.
This is a pretty random entry with photos from february (!) up until lately.

Zivit's birthday was in february,just one week after mine.She was harassed all day by gazillion of people wishing her happy birthday and interrupting with the party preparations:)

for the first time in my life i haven't got a clue where i shot a frame

the previously mentioned pretty birthday girl:)

went to Eldad Rafaeli's exhibition about the American suburbs with our photography class.
i wasn't blown away by the show even though there were indeed some very fine frames,especially the one with the blond woman with the rifle (it's a flash based site so no direct links possible).

anyhow,that's no the issue.
there was another exhibition on the bottom floor which featured photographs made with cell phones,or to say exactly "Nokia N95,world's most advanced multimedia cellular phone".
made me puke in my mouth a little.

some photos were "hung" on these monitors.
and at some point one of them got stuck or something so the museum employee got some online consultation about how to fix the "photo"

morning portraits series

something new I've been working on lately for my photography class this semester, somehow all my project turn to be personal and autobiographical in the end.

I've decided to take a photo of myself when i wake up.I thought about all those times we point the camera to our face,smile or make a serious emo-like expression, take many many pictures until we're satisfied and then upload them to the Facebook,MySpace and whatever accounts.
I've never had a MySpace account and i closed my Facebook account long time ago:) but that's not the point.

Trying to be sincere with myself was pretty damn hard.I'm not sure I've been sincere enough with myself in this series.But on the other hand, i can just keep shooting it until I'm sick of myself.Perhaps the interesting results will come then :) we'll see...

honest and hardcore critique is always welcome.

I apologize for such a long absence.I've been busy,i've been lazy,i've been having lack of motivation but what the fuck ever,i am here now and that's what important :)

It felt weird writing nothing at all in the previous entry.I guess a certain amount of words is required in order to make a connection.

Before i start with my photos i'd like to recommend a few photographers i've been lucky to come across lately.

KayLynn Deveney's work brought tears to my eyes for obvious reasons...

The controversial but at the same time beautiful work of Sally Man here, here and a short article.

Corey Arnold is a photographer and Alaskan crab fisherman who spends a few months a year looking for adventures in the northern seas.His colorful and vivid photographs capture,among other things, the nature and animal kingdom at all their glory.

The colors,simple yet elegant compositions in Jacek Gasiorowski's photographs blow me away.

this little trip had actually turned to a serious adventure when our car got stuck in the sand.
Boy,that was some serious shit.
At first we tried to rescue the car by ourselves but that,as you might have guessed, didn't work.
We made some calls but were left without any help.
We tried to stop someone on the road but it seemed there were only gay drivers that day who wouldn't pull over to say hi to 3 chicks.

eventually our asses were saved by Bally and Yitzhak who came to our rescue.woohoo!

and we even washed the car a bit

There were some holidays here,a while ago.Family gatherings and my grandpa celebrated his 81th birthday.Mazal tov!
